The Sunday tours always begin with the smallest instruments at Cotton. These include a wide selection (again working) of music boxes, disc players, barrel organs and player pianos. This part of the collection shows musical entertainment of Suffolk domestic life - if you will - the MP3 players of the day! A giant music box is one of the gems of this area - a Nicole Frere made in Switzerland c.1885 featuring tuned bells and mini snare drum!

Some unusual items have contained musical boxes over the years - one at Cotton is built within a chair! All beautifully in tone, this room is a wonderful way to start the tour before heading into the main auditorium for a concert on the mighty Wurlitzer cinema organ.
